Talbot County Officials Remind Residents of School Bus and School Zone Laws as Students Return to School

As students across Talbot County return to school on Monday, Aug. 25, Talbot County Public Schools, Talbot Thrive and the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office are reminding drivers to stay alert, obey traffic laws, and prioritize safety around school zones and buses. With increased foot, bicycle, and bus traffic, residents are urged to plan extra time and use caution on the roads. Read more

Mental Health Services are Critical at Talbot Detention Center

Talbot County Director of Corrections Joe Hughes and his staff at the County Detention Center all agree that Mental Health Coordinator Bill Rhodes makes a critical contribution to helping troubled inmates navigate their incarceration; they just don’t see enough of him. Rhodes, the center’s primary state-licensed clinical professional counselor, is responsible for assessing new arrivals, planning treatment, and referring patients to the resident psychiatrist as part of a multidisciplinary medical team. Festival of Hope set for September 5 in Easton

The fifth annual Festival of Hope is set for September 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Anchor Church in Easton and includes the ninth-year kick-off for Talbot Goes Purple. Talbot Goes Purple is a community substance use prevention initiative from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office. The annual Festival of Hope is a kick-off celebration also highlights the power of recovery and concludes with a memorial that honors people lost to substance use.  Read more
