The Talbot County Department of Emergency Services will host the annual Lifesaver Marathon on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Talbot County Health Department, 510 Cadmus Lane, Easton, giving community members the opportunity to learn critical emergency response skills that could help save a life.
The event gives participants the chance to train in Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, and Narcan administration. The Lifesaver Marathon brings together public safety and health partners, including the Talbot County Health Department and University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, to provide hands-on instruction and practical knowledge residents can use during real-life emergencies.
“We are proud to partner with Talbot County Emergency Services to host the Lifesaver Marathon and provide a space where community members can learn skills that truly save lives,” said Megan Greenwood, Director of Prevention, Preparedness, and School Health. “Community preparedness is a shared responsibility, and we’re excited to support an event that empowers residents with the knowledge and tools they need to help one another in an emergency.”
Participants will complete the American Red Cross Blended Learning CPR/AED course, which combines a self-paced online training component with an in-person skills session led by certified instructors.
What makes the event a true Lifesaver Marathon is the opportunity to complete three critical lifesaving trainings in one event. Participants who complete CPR/AED certification, Stop the Bleed training, and Narcan training will receive a Lifesaver Marathon Badge, recognizing their commitment to being prepared to help others in an emergency.
To encourage community participation, the CPR/AED certification fee (a $25 value) will be waived for the first 50 participants who register and complete the online portion of the course prior to attending the in-person session. The Stop the Bleed and Narcan trainings are free, and participants will receive take-home emergency kits, including a Personal Stop the Bleed kit and a Narcan overdose response kit, so they are prepared to respond if an emergency occurs.
The waived certification fees are made possible through generous support from community sponsors and partners who believe lifesaving training should be accessible to everyone. Their support helps expand access to these critical skills and reinforces the shared goal of building a community where more residents are prepared to respond when emergencies occur.
“Knowing CPR can truly make the difference between life and death,” said Madison Loker, Emergency Management Coordinator for Talbot County. “Whether you’re at the grocery store, the park, or at home, these skills can save lives. By combining CPR/AED certification, Stop the Bleed, and Narcan training into one event, we’re giving residents the opportunity to be prepared for several types of emergencies. We encourage everyone to attend and get involved.”
Participants may choose from multiple session times, allowing flexibility for those interested in attending.
