Position Reporting: Director, Talbot County Office of Community Partnerships

Summary:

Reporting to the Director, the Community Partnerships Project Manager helps bring people together to strengthen families, build community, and expand opportunities in Talbot County. Working under the direction of the Director of the Office of Community Partnerships, this position connects residents, organizations, and systems around shared goals — from addressing childhood poverty to improving access to resources and services.
This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role for someone who thrives on collaboration and can turn ideas into action. The Project Manager will support, and lead community projects connected to Talbot Family Network (the Local Management Board) and other county initiatives that advance equity and well-being.
Because this is a new position, the ideal candidate will be comfortable helping to chart the path forward — learning by doing, building trust, and working alongside others to make change happen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

Build strong, trusting relationships with residents, service providers, and partner organizations.
Engage community members with lived experience in shaping programs and solutions.
Facilitate conversations, meetings, and small group gatherings that lift local voices and foster shared understanding.
Represent the Office at community events, meetings, and public forums.


Collaborative Project Leadership

Coordinate and support community-based projects that may fall under the domain of this position, such as:
Healthy Talbot
Talbot County Hunger Coalition
Fiscal Mapping
Grant Monitoring and Program Evaluation
Turn big-picture concepts into practical action steps and track progress along the way.
Help align local efforts and partnerships toward shared goals in areas such as child well-being, food security, and economic mobility.


Facilitation and Collective Action

Plan and facilitate collaborative workgroups or coalitions focused on community priorities.
Promote inclusive dialogue and shared ownership of solutions among partners.
Capture insights and lessons learned to strengthen collective work over time.
Support the use of data and community input to identify needs and guide planning.
Help make information accessible and meaningful for diverse audiences.


Organizational and Administrative Support

Manage meeting logistics, documentation, and communications for assigned initiatives.
Prepare summaries, reports, and outreach materials that highlight progress and next steps.
Maintain organized records and follow through on commitments.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human services, public health, social sciences, community development, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
3–5 years of experience in community engagement, program coordination, or coalition work preferred.
Experience in local government or nonprofit settings are a plus.
Strong relationship-building and facilitation skills; comfortable working with diverse groups.
Ability to listen deeply, connect across differences, and support collaborative problem solving.
Organized and self-directed; able to move ideas from discussion to action.
Understanding of community organizing, systems change and equity principles.
Ability to work with qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions.
Skilled in clear communication, both written and verbal.
Proficient with digital collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.).
Community-minded and grounded in relationships.
Approaches work with curiosity, empathy, and humility.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping to build something new.
Values shared leadership.
Passionate about improving opportunities and outcomes for children, families, and neighborhoods.

Physical Demands:

This is an administrative position that involves extensive computer work and regular interaction with partners, residents, and community organizations. The following describes the general nature of work:

Work involves regular use of computers, phones, and office equipment.

The position may occasionally require transporting materials or supplies for meetings and community events (typically up to 25 pounds).

Duties may involve periods of sitting, standing, or moving about to attend meetings or facilitate events.

Local travel within Talbot County and occasional regional travel are expected; a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
